The Tan House Singers have now appointed a new Music Director, Lee Wiltamuth.
Lee hails from the United States and has wide experience conducting choral groups here in England and abroad. He said, “I am delighted to have been appointed. I look forward to seeing everyone and getting back to music making.” The Tan House Singers are very excited to be working with Lee over the coming years.
Before relocating to Tewkesbury in 2020 he was the MD of The Chippendale Singers of Otley.
Originally from Long Island, New York, he attended Boston University as a choral music education major. While in Boston he sang Mahler’s 2nd Symphony and Verdi’s Requiem at Boston’s Symphony Hall.
Off-campus he was involved with church and community choirs. He returned to Long Island and taught secondary choral music for several years and obtained a Master’s degree in performance from Five Town’s College.
As an active choir member in various New York choral ensembles he has sung Verdi’s Requiem at Carnegie Hall, Bach’s B Minor Mass as part of the Wall to Wall Bach festival and the film music of Ennio Morricone under the composer’s direction at both The United Nations and Radio City Music Hall.
Since relocating to the U.K. from Leipzig, Germany Lee has been active as a choral conductor and vocal technique coach.
